Advancement Recognition Program
The first rating, “Expert Instructor” requires that a Hunter Education Instructor complete the following provisions:
1. Complete two years service as a California Hunter Education Instructor
2. Teach a minimum of 12 Hunter Education Courses
3. Teach a minimum of 200 Hunter Education Students
4. Complete a course in Basic Teaching skills
5. Completed a course in Basic Rifle skills
6. Complete a course in Basic Shotgun skills
7. Complete a Basic First Aid/CPR course
8. Complete a course in Hunter Ethics & Responsibility

“Distinguished” Requirements
1. Have completed one year service as an “Expert Instructor”
2. Have taught a minimum of 5 courses as an “Expert Instructor”
3. Have completed a qualified Bowhunting Course
4. Have completed a qualified Muzzleloading Course
5. Have completed a qualified Survival Course
6. Have completed a qualified Wildlife Management Course

“Master” Requirements
1. Minimum of one year as a “Distinguished Instructor”
2. Minimum of five years length of service
3. Have taught a minimum of 30 courses or Have taught a minimum of 1,000 students.
4. Complete a qualified Handgun Course
5. Complete a qualified Wildlife Identification Course
6. Complete a qualified Game Care Course
7. Demonstrate leadership ability in the areas of Conservation, Hunter Ethics and Hunting Safety in an approved program beyond the normal scope of the
8. Attend and evaluate two other Hunter Education Courses
9. Receive the approval of the Hunter Education District Coordinator
Hunter Education Instructor Association of Southern California realizes that there may be courses not listed under the qualifications that would fulfill the intended requirements for current “Distinguished Instructors” to become “Master Instructors”. The administrators of the program encourage all “Distinguished Instructors” that believe that they may qualify as a “Master Instructor” to submit their application for review.
